Accumulation of grape metabolites is differently impacted by water deficit at the berry and plant levels in new fungus disease-tolerant genotypes

Résumé

New fungus-tolerant grapevine varieties present a promising solution to reduce chemical inputs and adapt to future climatic conditions, such as water deficit (WD). WD is known to affect the regulation of primary and secondary metabolite accumulation. Thiols (3SH and 4MSP) are powerful aromatic compounds crucial to the specificity of varietal wines. However, little is known about the effects of WD on the thiol aromatic potential of these new varieties. This study aims to investigate the impact of drought on thiol precursor accumulation in fungus-tolerant grape genotypes and evaluate the metabolic trade-offs between thiol precursors and primary metabolites.
